What Is the GDYO Guild?
The GDYO Guild is a voluntary organization that supports the GDYO mission and
provides volunteers and funding for program enhancements. Since tuition covers only
about 37% of the organization’s operational expenses, the money raised through
membership dues, donations and fundraising provides essential revenue.
The Guild is crucial to the success of the GDYO organization. Guild officers organize
parent volunteers, who serve snacks at rehearsals, assist with special events, assist
fundraising efforts such as merchandise sales, mail newsletters and offer valuable office
support. To volunteer contact the Guild at gdyoguild@gmail.com
The Guild’s fundraising efforts yield fundamental support for the GDYO organization.
The Guild recently:
- Purchased new music stands for YPO, DSE, and Sinfonietta orchestras.
- Purchased much needed percussion equipment.
- Purchased a computer and printer for a new staff member.
- Provided a $10,000 grant for 20062007 International Tour.
- Designated $20,000 to endow the Richard Giangiulio Artist Development scholarship, which annually provides $1,000 to a returning GDYO orchestra musician to study at a summer music camp or festival.
- Provided End of Year Parties for all orchestras.
- Provided End of Season gifts to conductors.
- Purchased an electronic keyboard, stand, and shipping case.
- Produced a DVD of the 2004 European Concert Tour.
- Produced “Home for the Holidays” compilation CD.
- Provided 5 summer study scholarships of $750 each
- Purchased filing wallets for the music library.
- The Guild supplies scholarship assistance for tours.
